Trends And Issues

Establishing Professional Contacts and Expanding Resources

This week has been a trying week, and stressful about how to get in contact with people outside the United States. I sent out several e-mails through the Global Alliance website, but everyone of my e-mails would come back saying returned and undeliverable. I then sent out e-mails to my Instructor, and all of my colleguages to make sure I was on the right track. I then found out that I was not alone there was several of us in the same boat. They too could not get any responses back. I still have not gotten any responses back as of this morning. Then I was talking to my Dad and telling him what I needed to do, and he says did you contact Pastor Jeff and Cathy who spent several years in the Philippines. I contacted Cathy by text this morning by text and she was glad to help me out with this project, and even gave me a name of another person who would be willing to work with me as well. This person has a lot to do with the Filipino country which is one I have not heard of. I am getting excited about working with these two ladies and to see how their education is different or similar from the United States. I cannot wait to see what we all have in common when it comes to teaching our children of the furture.

If I get more than what I need for the project I will send others the information, so no one is left out.

Yes Robin I too shared your stress of finding a real International contact, all my emails failed. You are fortunate to have a family connection in the Philippians , I look forward to reading about your insights.

I'm so glad that you were able to find some contacts. I was trying to think of anyone I knew personally who would be able to link me with someone in the early childhood field in another country, but I was unable to do so. My family is from the Phillippines, so I am very interested in learning from your posts. I tried to contact a professional in the Phillippines from the course websites, but like you, did not hear back.

Robin,
I am so happy you were able to get in contact with someone that will be helpful to you throughout the duration of this course. I'm waiting to hear back from someone after completing the alternative assignment.

Hello Robin,
I wish you all the best as you work with your contacts to learn more about the early childhood field. I look forward to learn about the roles of the various early childhood programs in the Philippines. Moreover, I look forward to engage in mutual educational exchange about early childhood education in our selected countries.

Hi Robin
I definitely agree with you, it has been a very stressful week trying to contact educators from another country. I did also sent many e-mails and they came back as undelivered, I really do not understand why. Although I was able to contact former colleagues that are now back to their countries. One lives in Panama and the other lives in Colombia. My friend from Colombia responded to me last night telling me that I can definitely count on her. Good Luck!
