Getting To Know Your International Contacts
Well after tried several professionals from the UNICEF website, decided to explore the alternative assignment from I looked over information on Ethiopia, and the Philippines both of these sites had things that are similar. The Poverty level is very low in both countries.
Ethiopia poverty level is at 39%. There are some challenges for the children in Ethiopia "Frequent food shortages and periodic famine- like conditions continue to put children at risk"(www.savethechildren.org). Many of the children die before they reach the age of five years old. There is only 36% of the children who attend primary or secondary school. Right now there are 5 million Ethiopias that are chronically food insecure.
Until exploring this site on Ethiopia had no ideal of how people in other countries do not have as much as we do in the United States. The poverty level is very low. My goal is to be to help where every I can, so the children are not living in poverty.
I had contacted my Pastor and his wife to help me out, but have had no contact with them. That is why I chosee to explore the Philippines on this site as well. The poverty level is just as low as the Ethiopia.
Philippines poverty level is at a low rate of 27% which is even lower than the Ethiopia's. There is a high level of "Malnutrition and life-threatening illness among infants and children"(www.savethechildren.org). I know just from people going over to this country you do not realize how much these other countries need help to get their children out of poverty and how much we have to offer. From the things I remember when you are in the Philippines there seems to be a lot of storms.
Poverty is something that happens all around the world, and we as educators need to stand up and help where we can to help cure the poverty issue. This seems to be an issue in all of the surrounding states. With exploring all of the resources and being able to share with parents could help to secure that children are not living in poverty.

Very good post! In the center where I work we provide different resource information that's available throughout the community that will help individuals that possess a need. I feel the need to take action against poverty in my community. I will contact a non-profit organization in my area to find out what I can do to help.
